I have had ulcerative colitis for about 10 years

Question:
I have ulcerative colitis for about 10 years and now, few weeks ago my neurologist told me that I may have MS or something else (what else he did not tell me...) - MRI next week with other diagnostics. My question is if any of you have both MS and IBD??

Answer:
I definitely have bowel 'issues' as well. I have seen a. I think it was a proctologist about this.  I did have my bowels scoped out - can't recall the name of the procedure - not barium enema, drink a gallon of liquid, flush your bowels, get scoped out, in my case exam was in the dr's  office.  At the time I was having chronic severe constipation.  The result of this exam was being told to eat more fiber.   I do notice food issues - veggies and fruit give me explosive diarrhea - wheat products block me up something fears, breads, high fiber drinks even (which are I think non wheat?) This issue has never been evaluated keeping my MS in mind, but I have to think the MS and sedentary life it has left me with is a strong contribution to my bowel problems.  I also notice that activity - like walking, tends to start me into the runs. I am not able to walk much, but when I do, better not be far from a restroom You may want to ask the physician to evaluate you more so keeping the probable MS in mind and / or you your self read up on MS and bowel issues.
