Can anyone give me some information about lymphocytic colitis? Is it different to ulcerative colitis?

Tagged As: Lymphocytic Colitis

Question:
Can anyone give me some information about this particular condition? Is it different to ulcerative colitis? Or is it just a more exact diagnosis of a type of UC?

Answer:
Lymphocytic, Microscopic & Collagenous Colitis are all very similar to >each other & distinct from UC or Crohn's. I asked one of the leading researchers on celiac disease in the US what microscopic colitis was, as I could not find it in my Merck Manual and the symptoms sound an awful lot like celiac disease. This is his reply: Microscopic colitis is often seen in association with celiac disease. It is my belief that anyone with this type of colitis, also called lymphocytic colitis should be checked out for celiac disease.
