Question:
I am 19 years old, and I have been suffering from chronic migraines for about 10 years (at least thats as far back as i can remember them as an abnormality). I have been to the Ear/Nose/Throat specialist, had blood work done (conventional medicine), been to the eye doctor... and everything has checked out to be normal. These headaches have brought me to the point where I can't even attend my University. If anyone here can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Other notes regarding my condition... I can manipulate the headaches through food but only in the worse direction. I wake up with the headache, and go to bed with it, @ nite time they are not as intense as daytime maybe 60% as intense.
Answer:
I suffered from severe migraines in my mid to late teens (I am now 24). My Doc put me on inderol at age 17. While the drug did help, I stopped taking it after six months because of it's side effects and the severity of the drug itself. That is when I explored other options to control my migraines... I have found meditation and acupressure have worked best for me... between the two I have learned to control my migraines. I suggest going to your library to find books on acupressure so you can find your pressure points through diagrams and explanations I wouldn't do justice to here... or maybe someone here could help you with a website on the subject?? I must admit I still do suffer from them, but only once a month instead of everyday. It was a gradual process and hopefully, someday, they will only come once a year or not at all. If you drink a lot of caffine ~STOP! A quick shot of caffine (a cup of coffee, a coke, etc.) can work well to relieve a migraine, but only if you don't usually ingest it.
