Question:
Help! I need some advice!! Ten weeks ago I began with what can be described as an intense pain in my right temple that lasted approx. 5 minutes. Since that time I have had a fairly constant, low grade headache generally situated at the back of my head and extending around both sides.I have has feelings of confusion, diorientation and lethargy constantly over the last 10 weeks I haven't been able to drive or works since this began. My balance is bad and I have tingling sensations in all extremities, most prominent in my hands and face. My MD has diagosed cluster headaches and is treating them as such with no effect. I have had a CT scan which showed no abnormalities. I was wondering if anyone who has accurately diagnosed cluster headaches recognizes any of my symptoms. Am I suffering from cluster headaches??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I seem to be at a loose end
Answer:
Almost none of your symptoms sound like the cluster headaches I have experienced and have been diagnosed as having by at least five differentdoctors. My cluster headaches are short, intense bursts of painwhich come and go with no other side effects. Also I have never seen symptoms like yours in any of the literature on cluster headaches which I have read. Since you doubt your doctor's diagnosis, I think you should visit at least one other doctor, preferably a neurologist who specializes in headaches.
