Diet and Health FAQ

Is this a normal symptom or should I get myself to a neurolist immediately (or both).?

Tagged As: Headache Symptom

Question:
Have suffered with migraine as long as I can remember. Used to only have the pain, last couple of years have had the added lovely nausea and vomiting added in for extra fun, but the last 2 months have had a new symptom, that I don't know if I should be scared of or just take in stride. I now feel at times between the spike in the side of the head pain, a complete numbness in the side of my head that the headache is on (only on the left), it usually only lasts about a minute or so, but then is followed by more intense pain. Sometimes instead of complete numbness, it feels (only description I can think of) like I just had a whole bunch of saline solution injected in the side of my head. Trying to keep this one from the family since my FIL just had two emergency brain surgeries in the last month, so I don't want to give them added worries, or make them think I am trying to steal his time of care away from him. Is this a normal symptom or should I get myself to a neurolist immediately (or both).

Answer:
Any change in your migraines should be reported to your neuro, that is what mine told me. It may be nothing but that is not something that you can decide. I have never had numbness, but what started happening to me is that my inner ear, both ears, started to hurt so bad I thought I had inner ear infections. It was just a sign that the migraines were getting worse as I aged. Nice to know I have something to look forward to!! Please go to the doctor and keep us posted!!
