Question:
Hi, I'm researching to see if there are more people like me. I have been unable to work due to a severe headache since 1997. It started with what I will describe as the flu with the worst headache I've had in my life. Trying to get relief I have seen about 18 doctors in seven years, with no luck. I have tried many different medications and the only medications to give me any relief are strong painkillers like morphine. My disability insurance company Cigna has cut me off so I'm fighting them now and it got me thinking that there has to be more people like me. If so maybe there is a treatment that I have overlooked. So if you or someone you know is in the same situation please reply.
Answer:
I've been out for 5 yrs now. Can't say it started with anything like the flu, but Chronic Migraines for sure. I had mig's since I was a kid, then had the dumb luck to fall off of a horse and land on my head. That was 8/93 - HA's from that day on. I'm on SS and Medicare, so no insurance fights, but I am starting to get close to the end of the road med-wise. Was recently in the hospital for 16 days, had to go on new therapy that hasn't even been published yet because I failed the standard therapy. I go to a Headache Specialist in a Headache Clinic in Philly. Have you tried a Headache clinic? Or at least a doc that is experienced specifically in headache?
