Question:
I've read where some of you have gone to the emergency room for a migraine. How do they treat the migraine? Can you drive yourself home? I usually can't function with a migraine and I'm wondering what the hospital could do for me.

Answer:
I have not, personally, been forced to head to the emergency room; however, a good friend who had migraines (and was trying to become pregnant -- no sumitriptan!) had several occasions to do this. Being curious & horrified, I asked about it. She said her husband usually drove her to the emer. room (except when no one was available i.e. neighbors to watch their 2 toddlers on 1 occasion -- she had to drive herself and DOES NOT recommend it) After determining she was not a narcotic junkie (i.e. they got hold of her regular doctor on the phone), the emer. rm treated with Demerol.
