Question:
For the last few years, I have suffered with headaches, of which I thought were sinus headaches. Since I have a deviated septum, the logical conlusion was to think that it was sinus headaches. I have been to five (5) sinus doctors, and four concluded that surgery for the septum would help me breathe better, but probably would not cure the headache problem. They have said I may have a neurological problem, which would be causing the headaches. I have had two CT scans, which showed no discernible sinus problems. They have recommended that I visit a Neurologist. I have made an appt. and will see one in a few weeks. MY symptoms include: throbbing headache between and above the eyes. I get slight stiffness in the back of the neck. I can feel a throbbing sensation in my eyes and neck. If a bend forward or lie down, the pain is worse. Advil and Tylenol do not help. I have had a bout with high blood pressure in the past and was treated for it with medication. My blood pressure has been known to be high at times but not constantly. I would consider myself a stressed out person. I have a rapid heartbeat. (80-85 beats per minute) Anyone have any suggestions or similar symptoms? I would greatly appreciate some input. I can't figure out the problem.
Answer:
It seems to me,from your description of your symptoms, that you indeed do have migraines (I am not a dr.). You may find that beta blockers used prophylactically will help you for your migraines because of your high blood pressure. One I had a great degree of success with is Ziac (no generic available)--went from chronic daily migraine to NONE for 2 months! Many of us use beta blockers with a great degree of success, whether or not we have elevated blood pressure. There are a lot of different ones out there. Also, of course, there are a lot of other prophylactic drugs that are currently being used with at least some degree of success. Go to that neuro.'s appt. armed with as much information as you can, and good luck!
