Question:
What kind Headache? Treatment? I am 38 years old and have been having some severe episodes of pain that eminate from the upper neck, up back of the head, and up the sides of the head. There is a throbbing. At times the pain is quite severe causing me to have to go to the emergency room where they did a CT scan and gave me some naproxen and cyclobenzapine to take as needed. They also suggested I seek a Massage therapist which I did. This at first appeared to help but actually it just felt good. What should I do next? What could this be? THe pain is intense and occurs now 2x a week Some background history: I had a car wreck in 1989 resulting in some herniated disks at C5,6,7. Had physical therapy for this, put head/neck in traction to reduce pressure. All seemed well for many years. Had an MRI. Have some scholiosis (spelling?) that is shaped like a backward S. Dos not cause me to hunch over or anything of the kind. Light, seasons, medicines do not affect the aforementioned headaches. Had some pain in 1997 in lumbar and lower back (sac) regions. Did exercises and all seemed well after that. In May 2000 was when these severe pains in the Head occured, zap my energy, and make it very difficult to work. These pains or headaches now occur about 2 times a week.

I have had pain like that and it went away when I started the MSM (more on that later). One week was saw the PT and my neck was its usual stiff self and the next week it was normal--she could not believe it. MSM does not work for everybody but it must have been exactly what I needed---it has cleared a few other problems as well, It costs mr $45 CDN a month for the dose I take now (plus $10 for Vit C--3 G per day). I will forward you the FAQs that e-gal has done. It does not seem to have serious side effects which it why I dared try it and I was a lucky one. Continue tohave it looked into though, especially if the MSM does not clear it up.
