Question:
A colonscopy last week found that my Crohn's is actually still active (which would explain a lot of the symptoms I felt in the last two months). I started Entocort yesterday (9mg) and woke up at night with stomach pain (acid?) and aching in my shoulders/neck area. I also had loose stool in the morning which I haven't had for weeks. My question: Has anyone else experienced aggravation of Crohn's symptoms while on Entocort? Would the symptoms go away if I continue on Entocort? How long did Entocort take to become effective for you guys?
Answer:
I find a high correlation between my crohn's and my mental state. Also I think there is a catch 22 in respect to that when I'm having a crohn's flair my stress level goes much higher. What are you doing about your anxiety problems; I'm betting getting that in check will go a long way into helping improving your crohn's. I was on Entocort for quite awhile after my 1st surgery and to tell you the truth, I don't know if it really worked or not. I was still stricturing in my colon and because I was only on the Entocort and Asacol, I developed a stricture in my small bowel. Entocort will only work in the terminal illeum and 1st part of the colon. My question was how do you know that it opens up at the same point every time and depending on if you have diarrhea or other discomfort, how fast is it moving through the bowel and will it have time to do what it was intended to do?
