Question:
Today my left sinus was congested, terrific pain; sick to stomach, etc.; I took medication for vascular headache, used nasal spray until I could breathe freely, headache gone; nausea gone; congestion gone. Sometimes this occurs. Have been taking antibiotics for sinus infection or tooth infection for one month. Long history of sinus/vascular headaches. Three surgeries for sinus problems; little success; CAT scans show nothing; develop fever sometimes and think it must be sinus but I never know for sure. Have read literature stating sinus headaches can mask vascular headaches. Any suggestions for this double dose of misery? Thanks.
Answer:
Its not that migraine headache masks the sinus headache. They are different but may be located in the same area, for example the frontal area. You do need and deserve an adequate diagnosis. Check in your area for a doctor that is ent or allergy that also treates headaches. There are several headache associations and of course the ent doctor should have his board certification in otolaryngology.
