Tagged As: Different Type Of Headache
Question:
I was just told by my doctor, after months of abnormal pain and bleeding, that I may have Endo. I am terrified about this. In the past two years I have been fighting the pain of TMJ/D and I am close to recovering from that. (Surgery Sept.11) I have had daily headaches for two years from the tmj brought on by an accident. Once a month I would also get a different type of headache associated with my period. It would last about an hour or so. And then came the cysts. In the last two years I have had what I thought to be 6 ovarian cysts rupture. I was hospitalized once. No evidence has been found though. My last period, the abdominal pain lasted two days, right before my period. I am on 60mg of Morphine due to the TMJ chronic headaches and yet I was still in angony. My doctor saw me right away and now wants to do a Lap. I started my period the day the pain in the abdomin stopped and I then had a three day fight with my different headaches. I landed in the hospital. I know it was a menstral headache. I also get severe leg pain every month the day before my period. I am scared...I don't know that I can live this way forever. I hate side effects of pills more than the pain sometimes. I've suffered for two years of a non-curable problem (TMJ) and now that I have that under control...I have this to deal with. I am only 22 years old and an not involved with anyone seriously. I want children so badly and I am afraid I won't be able to. The Lap surgery also scares me...I hate pain! Thanks for listening. It really helps knowing none of us are alone. Please feel free to keep in touch with me. I'd love any info. I can get.
Answer:
I think it's a great relief to be able to talk to women who have been through similar circumstances. Having proper gynecological care as you go along will give you a better chance to have children eventually than ignoring the endometriosis would. Just make sure that you have a very good surgeon, and that he understands your desire to have children. As odd as it may seem, having the endometriosis treated may help your TMJ problem! Some of us have mentioned that we clench our teeth against the pain, even in our sleep. And that won't help TMJ! Especially since you are young and still want children, I hope that you will look into seeing one of the expert surgeons
