Diet and Health FAQ

My Doctor is checking for Krohn's disease (sp?)because of my GI problems.

Tagged As: Krohns

Question:
They are running a huge amount of blood tests on me, next Friday I go into the hospital for a upper and lower GI scope and I will be adequately sedated they said and on Monday they will call the hospital to set up a liver biopsy for ASAP. They don't have a clue yet and are trying different avenues to see why my liver is not functioning properly.  It could be MTX, could be fatty liver, could be Hep B/C?????? They are checking for Krohn's disease (sp?) as well because of my GI problems. I now have what you would call a TEAM of doctors working to getting my health back in order if possible.  It is all very tedious and tiring and I wish I would know more than I do now.

Answer:
Sometimes it takes so long to get people to work together - this is a real team and should get down to the crux of the matter. Glad to hear they didn't want to keep you. Crohn’s disease is no fun, but it's manageable. Thankfully a lot of Crohn’s meds also help RA, so you'll be killing two birds with one stone, if this is your dx. If it's Hep b/c, then Dr. Susan is around to advise you. She knows a lot about that stuff And if it's what's behind door number 3... See dog gone it, I didn't spell that right.....Crohn’s vs. Krohns!!!  My husband said there was a Dr. Krohns in his home town and thought maybe he discovered the disease in Black River Falls, Wisconsin... Sorry to hear that you will need to go through more tests and worry. I know that not knowing is not a good place to be. Like Kelly, I think that it is a good thing that you have this team working on your case. With all the input from the various doctors, they should be able to provide some answers soon. Hi Jeannette,   Even though you do not have the answers yet, know that you are doing what you can to get to the bottom of it.  You really are in our prayers ya know. Sounds like you're gonna get some answers very soon.  That's really good.  It's the waiting that sucks rocks.  Oh well, a necessary evil, I suppose. I had an upper and lower scope done together about 3 years ago.  When the doc mentioned that he wanted me to have both ends scoped at the same time, I almost fell through the floor.  I was a wreck, but he assured me that it would be OK, and I would feel nothing.  He was right.
