Question:
Yesterday afternoon, my 6yo was sent home from school with a fever and headache. He was feverish all night, and complained about his eyes hurting and feeling dry. This morning, he said he felt fine, but I noticed that he had puffy red circles under his eyes. This had happened before. He was recently tested for allergies, and he is allergic to grass, trees, and dust. Anyone else have any experience with this? What kind of specialist did you seek for help?
Answer:
Just wanted to comment that surgery isn't ALWAYS gonna cure chronic sinusitis. I had the surgery two weeks ago, and I'm in the middle of a massive sinus infection right now. Both kids have it too. Also, the surgery can be a LOT more invasive than they tell you up front, and it takes quite a bit of time to recover from it. Because the sinuses have to drain on their own, you get quite a bit of (gross alert) bloody phlem dripping down the back of your throat, causing a horrid metallic taste in your mouth, plus there is the gel that packs your nose that hardens making you feel like you have cement in your face. YOur nose drips for weeks, and, if you're really lucky like me, you have an allergic reaction to the paper tape theat attaches the bandage to your nose, giving you a horrid chemical burn. What a swell couple of weeks this has been. I hope you have better luck..
