Answer:
Okay, I'm confused. You've read the book, you've bought the carb counter and you think you're ready to go. But wait! What do you mean by where can I get sugar that I will be able to use in the induction diet.? You can't HAVE sugar, especially during the induction phase, so I'm confused here. That's kind of a key feature of low-carbing. If you mean, Where can I find sugar substitute? then ask your grocery clerks where the artificial sweetener aisle is. The only sugars you should be taking in are the trace grams in low-carb veggies. Generally, the carb gram counts on foods are total of sugar grams, fiber grams and other, like starches. One of the things that annoys me about Atkins (and isn't true of other low-carb plans) is that he counts fiber grams as part of your daily carb count. I refuse to do that. I only count the digestible grams (all non-fiber ones). Hasn't hurt me at all and I eat a LOT of fiber. I take a generic version of Centrum, large doses of vitamin C (always took those two, even pre-low-carb) and a calcium supplement. I figure since I'm female and may not get enough calcium every day, I might as well take in some more, just in case. I only get vitamins that don't list sugars or starches on the ingredient list. The majority of vitamin C tablets have sugar in them (they're meant to be chewable and yummy) but non-sugar versions that are too nasty (acidic/sour) to be chewed are available.
