Some friends have been trying to get me to go on the Atkins Diet (which is a low-carbohydrate diet that a number of people have had a great deal of success with). Does anyone here know anything about the cons of the Atkins diet VS. a low-fat diet? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

here is some cons of atkins diet that i know: 1. You can not eat starches such as bread, potatoes etc. You can make products from soy flour or powder, but they do not taste the same. 2. You can't have your own birthday cake. 3. You need to be creative when eating out. order your sandwich with/out the bread etc. 4. All that meant can be expensive 5. You need to test your urine every day 6. You must take supplements 7. breakfasts can get very boring with out cereal, toast, pancakes etc. 8. Unless you are hypoglycemic or a carb addict, it is not necessary to go low carb to lose weight 9. Caffeine and citric acid (preservative and flavoring from lemons/limes/oranges) can throw you out of ketosis so you need to avoid using them. Wish you success in atkins diet
