Could joint pains be Crohn's related? Would glucosamine help?

Question:
Could joint pains be Crohn’s related? Would glucosamine help? I know that people with Crohn’s can have joint pain, but I thought those pains where because of inflammation like arthritis. In my case there are no inflammations that I know of. My internist didn't think it is a Crohn’s problem cause I've been on a much higher dose of prednisone the last few weeks and the joint pain didn't go away. If it had been inflammations, the pred should have helped... Some further information: I've been on pred for the last 9 years, between 10 and 40 mg. I take Imuran; I take Salofalk, Entocort, Iron, Calcium, and vitamin D. Since a month I've started taking multivitamins and Fish Oil capsules (for the Crohn’s, but also cause it should be good for your joints). Any ideas on this?

Answer:
Just because they can't find anything doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong.  Your on the right track with the nutritional supplements but make sure they are of a good quality or else they are not going to do you much good.  I would drop the Iron, and add proanthocyanidins and glucosamine to your supplement regime. Not sure what your multi contains but you want at least a gram of vitamin C and you also want to be taking 400IU of d-tocopherol daily. Coenzyme Q10 should also be a part of your multi.
