Question:
Has anyone had any remarkable success with Dr Atkins Diet Revolution. I would like to know more about it if anyone else has tried it.
Answer:
I can only relate second hand experiences. I've met 3 people, so far, who have had great success on the plan, one man that I work with has melted in the past year and says he owes it all to the Atkins plan. He says his cholesterol has gone down considerably. A girlfriend of mine, who was about 20 pounds overweight has lost 12 so far on Atkins (in about 2 months, I think). At this girlfriend's wedding, I met her uncle who said that he lost 20 pounds and he never felt better. I bought a copy of the book and read a lot of it. Some of the chapters on Yeast problems and hypoglycemia were a bit too dense for me, but I'll try again. :) Anyway, I started the plan and did it for 5 days before I found out I was pregnant and had to stop. However, in those 5 days, this is what I noticed: 1. Energy levels were better 2. Appetite was supressed. I was satisfied on much less food and stayed satisfied longer. 3. I was *very* constipated. 4. I craved fruit juices, which I addressed by taking an amino acid recommended in the book and by drinking Crystal light fruit flavored drinks. 5. I was in Ketosis, judging by the Lypolisis testing strips that I was using. But after being off the diet for one day, my ketosis level dropped to nothing. :( What I want to know is if there is some kind of maintenence type of program that I can do while I'm pregnant so that I can maintain the energy that I attained for the 5 days that I was on Atkins, curb my appetite so that I don't overeat, but avoid the constipation and get all the nutrients that I should be getting. I don't know if Atkins addresses this issue in his book. Does the Carbohydrate Addicts diet address it?
