Question:
If I try the Atkins thing, what can I eat and how much of it can I eat? I don't want to concentrate on what I CAN'T eat, but rather what I CAN eat. That way I have ONE list of acceptable foods and that is the list I use, ONLY.
Answer:
I would try to read a copy of the book if I were you to get more information. The foods you can eat on the atkins diet are in there. Basically, on induction, you keep your net carb grams (Carbs minus fiber, simplistically speaking) The allowed foods are eggs, meats (unprocessed--no balogna etc)and three cups of salad with a lo-carb (high fat) dressing. The induction period is meant to put your body in KETOSIS (change from burning carbs to burning fats) and to adjust your eating to the lo-carb way (usually there are withdrawel symptoms for a few days, where you don't feel so well) Then, you feel great! So, no sugar, bread, pasta, rice. and high carb veggies. Eat bacon, eggs, butter, cream, steak and hamburg, pork and chicken. There are lots of great food ideas here. (Do a search on REC) After the two weeks you can start adding a few more carbs and expanding your menu. The book explains all of that
