Does anyone have a success history of Aktins diet?

Tagged As: History Of Atkins Diet

Question:
I have a question. Have there been any studies verifying long term success of dieters who chose Atkins. Let's say those who initially lost 30 lbs on atking and kept it off for 5+years would be considered success. I would suppose that Dr Atkins, being a rich man, could underwrite such a study. Has he done so? I am aware that most diets fail, but I would like to know how Atkins diet compares to others Does anyone have a success history of Aktins diet?

Answer:
There have been (I think) 2 studies conducted other 12 months, and least one 5 year study is underway, we won't have the results for another 4.5 years. One of the 12 month studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine this year and the conclusion was that Atkins was at least as good, for various definitions of good, as the low fat diet they compared it to.
