Cabbage soup for weight loss has been highly touted but how does one make the stuff?

I wouldn't know if my grannies Cabbage soup would made anybody to loose weight, since it's done with mutton, although when I make it usually use beef. It's very simple really; chop some cabbage, some onions or leeks, some carrots, few (or more :)) gloves of garlic, throw them all in a pot. Add some boiling water/or bouillon and let simmer. Add some beef or mutton (that has been pre cooked in another pot with some water, just long enough to seal the meat and get rid of all the foam). Let the soup simmer till everything is cooked. About the time carrots start to feel a bit soft add some potatoes chopped in cubes. At the same time add some salt and pepper to taste. Hope this was what you asked for??
