Question:
I usually don't pay attention to the latest diet trend.... However, I've had more people mention the Zone diet to me.And the last person to mention it to me was an MD. (!) Although this MD said he was a proponent of the Zone Diet....I don't think he was necessarily thinking about it for diabetics, so I thought I'd ask here for comments. Anyone aware of what the Zone diet is have any comments about it's value to diabetics?

Answer:
One thing about the zone diet is that it is bad for your kidneys...when your body isn't breaking down carbs it breaks down the amino acids in the protein to form glucose...the leftover is NH3 which makes your liver and kidneys have to work harder...don't do it...there are so many things wrong with this diet it's terrible....besides that in non-diabetics the zone diet puts you in a state of perpetual diabetes...if anyone has anymore questions send me an email...not a doc but I recently studied about this diet! thanks
