Diet and Health FAQ

Is there some advice about food on atkins renal diabetic diet?

Tagged As: renal diabetic diet

Question:
Where could one find recipes for renal diabetic diets?

Answer:
AFAIK, the primary dietary recommendation to deter (or at least delay) the onset of renal disease is to limit the amount of protein ingested (excess protein apparently puts pressure on the kidneys). My physician provided me with a specific, quantitative recommendation; however, I think what's appropriate is very much a YMMV (individual) thing ... depending on an individual's overall health, weight, age, physical condition, gender and maybe some other things. Inadequate protein consumption poses other health risks, so I recommend you discuss this topic with your doctor before implementing any dietary changes.
