Could someone here give me some advice about type ii diabetic diet?

Tagged As: type ii diabetic diet

Question:
Maybe this question has been asked a lot of times in the past and if so I am truely sorry. I see a lot of people here like the Atkin's diet but is it ok for a type II diabetic. I try to watch the amount of carbos I take in so maybe I would do well on this diet. Could someone here give me some needed advice about type ii diabetic diet?

Answer:
I am a type II and following the lowcarb eating plan has done wonders for my blood pressure, blood lipis and the control of my blood glucose. I do not check my bg regularly, therefore I must have a way of eating that consistently maintains my levels. Lowcarb has done this. YMMV so read a few books, then discuss it with your doctor. When he and the dietitian try to dissuade you, ask them what the preferred treatment is for reducing dangerous lvels of blood glucose in non-insulin dependent type IIs. Yep, a very low-no carbohydrate eating plan. However, conventional wisdom would rather appear respectable and have you eat more carbs, elevate your glucose, thn use glucophage or metformin to lower the BG regardless of the risks from the drugs.
