Question:
PROTEIN SHAKE DIETING USING MET-RX I need some advice about PROTEIN SHAKE DIETS because I'm a 44 year old male, 5'10 and now weight 300 lbs. My eating habbits are out of control. Plus I'm now a Type II diabetic. I've been doing some research into a program put together by an organization called Obesity Treatment Center (OTC). They put all their obese patients on a specifically designed protein shake diet. People have lost up to 20 pounds a month successfully. The type of protein powder I will be using is made my MET-RX, which has all the vitimans, proteins and other important nutrients in it. The recommened amount of shakes per day for men is four(4) shakes. They also want their patients to exercise on a daily bases. I want to start getting myself back into shape with weight training. Has anyone gone on a PROTEIN SHAKE diet and lost all their weight and been successful at it? If you have, I would really like to hear from you. Thanks
Answer:
Matt, this is ridiculous. You will not be satisfied with 4 protein shakes per day even though the MET-Rx ones are the best quality. My Father in Law is in a similiar situation as he is 100lbs overweight with type 2 Diabetes, aching joints, lack of energy, etc. I put him on a 5 small meal per day plan Monday-Fri consisting of lean meats, fibrous carbs and a mixture of bars and shakes. His sugar levels went down daily to more normal levels and after a month he has lost 15lbs and feels better. (he now needs to start exercising) You will not last on a 4 shake per day diet as you will lose discipline quickly and want real food. This will cause you to overeat. You neeed a balanced diet that is a mixture of real foods and shakes and bars for convenience. You also need to exercise!
