Question:
My doctor has recommended (strongly) that I go to Duke for a week or two. (Of course, I can't--won't-- go unless my insurance covers it, or at least the majority of the cost.) Does anyone have any information about it? I have high cholesterol, and take two meds. However, I must admit that I haven't really tried to change my eating habits in any regimented manner or for any great length of time. I have made a modest start at change (the new year and all), but something like Duke may make me more conscious of what I have to do. Thanks for any information.

Emily, Here's a link to their web page. http://www.dukedietcenter.org/asp/index.asp I live in the area near Duke and am a member of the health and fitness center at the Duke Center for Living, to which the Diet and Fitness Center belongs. While I can't tell you specifically about the DFC program, I have been happy with the Center for Living's facilities and programs.
