One disagreement I have to add to that - the perscription drug Xenical actually does block the absorption of fat. True it causes the runny side effects, but my wife and I each lost our first 30 lbs on this perscription. It's not cheap, but it does work. We then switched to low carb and I lost another 21 lbs
