Question:
Hey guys... Now I know when I ask this people will probably be tempted to jump down my throat.... but please don't. Im trying to find information on ephedra-free diet pills, such as hydroxycut ephedra-free. My boyfriend suggested I get some to help control my appetite. He was a key reason I got off of diet pills a year or so ago because he warned me about all the dangers associated with ephedra. But he told me that the ephedra-free pills have things like green tea in them, which is supposedly a healthy ingrediant. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about how safe and healthy these are. I've tried doing some searches on the internet, but I just keep getting information on where they are sold and how much they cost. I'm having a hard time finding actual information as to their safety. If anyone could supply me with info about diet pill I'd really appreciate it. I refuse to take them if I think they are going to be dangerous the way that the ephedrine pills were, so i want to make sure they are healthy before I buy them.
Answer:
Definitely a question for your doctor, not a site on eating disorder sufferers. But Koosh, I am worried that you're thinking this given your history of an ED. I know thinking ephedra-free seems like a safer alternative, but a diet pill is a diet pill, another chemical to mix into your system and interact with whatever else you're taking (I can't remember what you're on, Zoloft?). But if you're really wanting something to decrease your appetite, there may be other non-diet pill things a physician could prescribe that have side effects of decreased appetite. Like when I was just in the hospital, they wanted me off one of my meds, because they thought it was contributing to my lack of appetite and weight loss. This is an article I found on the web about that med, they talk about it for its weight loss and appetite reducing affects, so your doc might find just a touch of it helps your appetite and doesn't make you lose weight. http://www.totalwomenshealth.com/viewArticle?ID=638685 I hope this didn't come across the wrong way; I found this article very interesting and it explained a lot. Anyway, I am just worried about you Koosh, that you are considering this. Please look at other alternatives, including non-medicinal ones. It just seems that this would be messing with fire and not the solution you are really seeking. Take Care.
