Question:
I'm 44 years-old, 5' 9, 185 lbs., non-smoker, non-drinker. I work out 4 days per week w/free weights, I've got a nice V shape, and, basically, I look like a guy who works out. My pecs look good and my upper abs are evident, but it's those damn lower abs that I'm unable to develop. I do a lot of twisting excercises, as well as leg raises. I also drink a lot of water each day. (As a PC tech I'm responsible for over 400 users, so I find myself logging a lot of miles each day. I always take the stairs - 2 at a time, running from one user to another. After running around most of the day I head off to the gym for an hour & a half.) I eat the right foods: no pastries, sweets, fried foods, etc., but I feel if I had a diet/menu plan I know I'd do a lot better. I've heard about eating 6 smaller meals per day but I haven't found any meal suggestions or diet plans listed anywhere. Anybody out there have any suggestions?
Answer:
I use the following plan: I eat small amounts about every two hours: 1. What will I be doing in the next two or three hours? I eat calorie input for that. If it is working out I like pasta, plenty of it, and pesto. If it is a rest day, I try to concentrate on vegs dishes. 2. I also have my tuna during the day. 3. Overall I follow a Mediterranean Diet (Crete) guideline with extra protein.
