Question:
I need a nutritional diet plan. Preferably a day to day/week to week plan that has foods from which to choose from. I am about to begin a diet and exercise change-of-life regimen. The plan needs to be quite elementary, since I've never ate healthy before. I am a 29 yr.. old male, 175 pds. of otherwise good health (except for the terrible diet and lack of exercise). Are there any good websites or books I can be aimed toward? Thanks in advance,
Answer:
Go to the library, find the New York Times for July 14, 1998, and copy the piece and the diet table on the D.A.S.H. diet. Although the study was designed to look for blood pressure control, in my opinion this diet provides a sound basis for controlling weight, minimizing your chance of developing heart disease, and possibly reducing the chance of getting any of several kinds of cancer. It is a low-meat, high fruit and vegetable diet, but not extreme in any factor. The toughest problem I've found is getting five or six vegetable servings a day (five or six fruit servings is a cinch). Take a look, don't try to go whole hog with it, but start to modify your diet in that direction.
