What is the healhy colon diet I should follow?

Tagged As: Healthy Colon Diet

Question:
A friend of mine has just had a bowel resection to remove a cancerous tumour in his bowel. 12 inches up from the rectum. The surgeon also found some on the pelvis but was unable to remove it because of the close proximaty to the urethra. On a positive note the catscan of his liver came up clear. He is wonderring if there is a diet that he should follow to increase his chances of not getting the cancer back in his colon. In other words, what is the healhy colon diet he should follow? Also has anyone seen this kind of situation colon to pelvis and what was the outcome although I know each case is different. thanks in advance and remember to keep positive

Answer:
A high fiber diet will be helpful in decreasing the chances of the (remaining bowel) from forming cancer. However, he may not be able to tolerate a high fiber diet. He needs both radiation to the pelvis and chemotherapy. Go to wwwicic.nci.nih.gov and look for colon cancer protocols in canada for the name(s) of state of the art oncologists in Ontario province.
