Question:
I am looking for low fat recipes. I have a fatty liver and was told to cut the fat, Which I did for about 2 months and then WHAM it has become difficult to eat ANYTHING low fat. I am finding it terribly difficult to stick to any type of diet or exercise program even though I feel 1000 x better when I lose even 7-8 pounds. Can anyone tell me about a healthy low fat diet recipe?
Answer:
One suggestion -- in cutting down on fat, make sure you're not bulking up on sugar -- which is what most packaged low-fat products do. I eat low-fat, but I also eat low-sugar (no packaged foods over 3g a serving of either fat or sugar). Sugary products (and there are many hidden sugars in things like commercial spaghetti sauce, etc.) can tend to cause cravings, and perhaps that's one of the reasons you're finding it hard to stick to a diet? My best solution was to almost eliminate packaged foods and concentrate on eating whole foods -- I eat lots of vegetables, fruits, and count portions of whole wheat bread, pasta, and other carbs. It also works for me to balance carbs with protein -- eating carbs alone tends to cause cravings for me. Since I don't really know what you're eating, this may be all irrelevant -- but what struck me is that you are trying to eat low-fat but are having trouble sticking with it -- which to me says maybe too much sugar and not enough whole foods. Good luck to you!
