Question:
Can anyone direct me to a website with a free 7 day low carb diet plan for the person on a budget? I saw a few good 7 day diets, but they involved expensive items like shrimp & fish, or products designed to be lean (like lean bacon, reduced calorie soups etc)...which also equals expensive. I'm open to any type, low carb, low fat, vegan...I'll give it a whirl so long as it works. ^_^ Any help greatly appreciated, as there are SO many dieting websites out there, they all seem to flood me without giving me the real info I need. Too much advertising and buy my book gimmicks to wade through. Thanks in advance!
Answer:
Do your grocery shopping around the outer edge of the store - this is where all the unprocessed whole foods are. Try to avoid the center aisles...With that in mind, most whole foods are cheaper than processed foods. You need good lean sources of protein - like lowfat cottage cheese, nonfat yogurt, nonfat milk, chicken breasts and tuna. You need good sources of carbs from fruits and veggies and whole grains like oatmeal. Try to focus on getting plenty of protein (.8g - 1g per lb of body weight), restrict greasy/fatty foods and sugary foods (like regular soda), and simple carbs like pasta, white bread and potatoes. A good ratio of calories are 40% from carbs, 30% from protein, and 30% from fat. I would suggest charting your food intake now for a couple days at www.fitday.com to figure out where you stand with # of calories and carb/prot/fat proportions and tweak it slowly from there. Don't forget the exercise
