Any help for low sodium Diabetic foods diet ?

Tagged As: low sodium diabetic diet

Question:
My dad is a diabetic and the big problem is he is a paraplegic from Vietnam and confined to a wheelchair and cannot exercise. He is a type 2 diabetic diagnosed about 4 years ago and he really didn't take it serious, now he is on insulin and glypezine or zide (not sure)and having trouble maintaining a blood sugar level of anything under 250, though today he said it was 210 so maybe we are getting somewhere. The problem is he is a big guy over 280 and he has a big appetite and selecting food for him is very difficult as he is not a big veggie eater. What I would like to know are what food do you guys recommend as kinda free or almost free foods to give him something to snack on. Right now we have found the sugarfree ice pops are good and also sugarfree Jell-O, but it is so hard to find low sugar and low fat and low carbohydrate SNACK FOOD! For regular meals my mother has been just giving him regular foods, but trying to lower the size and carbohydrate portions. If anyone has anything they think may help out my father, and more my mother who is going crazy trying to find foods to keep him well, I would really appreciate the help as the sores on his feet are really hampering his ability to get around. Thanks to all in advance!!!!!
