Tagged As: what food to eat on a low cholesterol diet

Question:
I need recipes for low cholesterol foods or links to websites that talk about this please. Yesterday my Docror called with the new that the results of my Bood test were in and the news was not good. My Choleseral was high, very high, dangerously High. I have already started on medication for this and now she said to change my diet. But she never told me how to do that.Ok to be fair she did say no more fried foods. The websites I have found want me to sign up an leave my e-mail address, no thank you. I spend a considerable ammount of time as it is tying to get unsubscribed from these websites that send me junk mail. So if any one can help me PLEASE.

Answer:
In June I was tested for cholesterol and it was 283, in Sept it was down to 210 and in Jan 170. I cut out all meat products except fish, had to have something to eat. I use Smart Balance instead of butter, olive oil & grape seed oil for sauteing and cooking, salad dressing etc. I use an organic shortening that's non-hydrogenated and trans fat free made by spectrum. There are cheeses available made of course from soy, but I also use one made from almonds. I think the soy mayonnaise named Vegenaise is the best i've tried. Morning star Farms makes very good chicken patties and burgers Don't remember who made the riblets in bbq sauce but they are very good also. Use the powdered egg replacer in your baking and cooking and egg beaters for recipes where powdered eggs wouldn't work. There are things like flax seed, oatmeal, garlic, almonds etc that are cholesterol lowering foods. I use tofu also, not as much as I should, but I'm starting to use it more, but I do use soy milk and Rice Dream. I'm sure I don't need to tell you to eat lots of fresh veggies and fruit. I also take Omega 3 supplements and a good mulit-vitamin. I'm sure I'm forgetting something important. Oh, I did get a paperback book that lists the fat, cholesterol etc of foods it's called The complete book of food counts
