Question:
I'd like to do a long term water fast, but really don't know what I am doing. How do you psyche yourself into it? I've fasted for as long as 3 days and never even hit ketosis. Guess I have large Glycogen reserves.I've also heard about 3 day fruit diet? Does it work with me? Any advice? How do I properly break such a fast?
Answer:
A long-term water fast is heavy duty. You might want to start off with a 3 day fruit diet as a transition. Dr Herbert Shelton was one of the most popular water fasting doctors and he considered preparation a waste of time. So if you are man (or woman) enough to bite-the-bullet go for it and just stop eating! A fast of under 10 days can't hurt you , in my opinion. But it is very difficult to do. A better solution is to start off with a juice fast and transition into the water fast. Here's Dr Airola's regimen that he used to give to his patients: FASTING (3 TO 40 DAYS) On the first day of fasting only: one hour before enema' two table. Spoons of pure castor oil with a glass of water to which juice of half a lemon has been added. 7:00 AM. Morning beverage: vegetable broth. 7:10 AM. Dry brush massage. 7:30 A.M. Massage with Oye-oil and Gusse shower (hot and cold). 8:00 AM. Enema At Bjorkagarden as enema is given 3 times a day during entire length of fasting. 9:00 AM. Glass of juice Carrot juices or a diluted citrus juice. 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Baths: Kuhne-bath (temperature 12-18°C).Alternating sitz baths (warm 15 min., 38°C; cold, 1/2 minute, 18°C), Sauna bath. 11:00 A M. Cup of herb tea 12 00 A.M. Vacuum massage, cupping-one hour treatment. 1:00 P.M. Enema 1:20 P.M. Glass of carrot juice or vegetable broth. 1:30 to 3:30 P.M. Rest. 3:30 P.M. Specialized baths. 5:00 P.M. Glass of fruit juice. 7:00 P.M. Cup of herb tea 8:30 P.M. Enema 9:00 P.M. Bedtime
