Question:
i want to lose 10pounds in three days. Can anyone tell me something about 3 day weight loss diet? Thanks
Answer:
Losing 10 pounds in three days is dangerous, says Sylvie Jacques, an Ottawa-based registered dietitian and certified diabetes instructor. When people lose more than two pounds per week, they are losing water, electrolytes and lean muscle mass. Jacques says this type of rapid weight loss can lead to health problems. People will lose weight on this diet because it is very low in calories and carbohydrates and limited in food choices. People may eat even less because they will get bored eating the same foods, she says. The diet recommends people drink between four and seven glasses of water or no-calorie beverages every day, which is too little for people to stay adequately hydrated, says Jacques. People will lose water weight and lose weight fast as they become dehydrated, she says. They'll be like a plant that doesn't receive enough water. They may experience side effects of dehydration, like headaches. Although the diet does include lean protein and foods commonly found in grocery stores, that doesn't make up for all the negatives in the 3-Day Diet. There is no science or nutritional advice to support it, says Jacques. This diet does not reinforce healthy lifestyle habits, such as eating nutritious foods or getting regular physical activity. Dieters could get stuck in a yo-yo pattern. They'll lose weight due to dehydration, but gain the weight back as soon as they start eating and drinking normally. EXPERT VERDICT: This diet is dangerous. Losing 10 pounds in three days is too much. You could need medical supervision. OUR VERDICT: Not enough food, fluids or common sense. The 3-Day Diet is a dud.
