Diet and Health FAQ

Should my food be restricted to the food list? What about south beach diet message boards ?

Tagged As: south beach diet message boards

Question:
Hi. I've successfully been in Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet - 7.5 pounds so far but have a questions about the book's list of foods. The Phase 1 recipes have ingredients in them that are not on the corresponding Foods to Enjoy list. For Phase 1, Edamame, Avocado, onions, radishes, tomatoes, black olives, almonds and sour cream and blue cheese appear in recipes but are not listed in the food list. Are these foods typically considered low-carb enough to be eaten in Phase 1? Should my food be restricted to just what's listed in the Phase 1 food list or should I add the extra foods found in the recipes to the list? What about south beach diet message boards? Thanks for any advice.

Answer:
you can have all of these foods although some have limits (tomato is one per meal, almonds - 15 per day). If you go to www.prevention.com and the south beach message board you can find a thread for newbies. it will give you a full food list with a lot more food than the book lists, all approved by the dr. also, look for the link to the ezboard recipe exchange. has a ton of great recipes
