Question:
Well it is January again and I have decided to try and lose weight. I have lost and gained weight many times over the years. A friend of mine told me about the zone diet so I bought the book and have been reading it here and there for a few days. It is definitely more complicated than simply reducing your fat intake and increasing your exercise. This has been my weight loss strategy for the last decade. It works for a few months, until I get off track and gain it all back. I would like to know if anyone has any easy to follow advice for a new comer to this way of life. Who has time to make those fancy snack foods suggested in the book. I know we need to slow down and be mindful about what and how we eat but in reality we all live and work in a hectic culture and society. Any suggestions for afternoon and evening zone diet snacks?
Answer:
The zone diet is extremely simple to follow, once you understand it. Sears second book, Mastering the Zone, is a lot easier for the nuts and bolts of HOW to follow the plan with using snacks than the first book, Entering the Zone. Follow Sears' advice about eyeballing snack portions, and eat simple meals involving lean fish or meat, lots of salads, fruits, vegetables. Things you'll be cutting down on will be bread, potatoes, white rice, pasta, sweets. Another good website: http://www.karenskitchen.com
