Question:
I have just had 3 foot removed from my bowel due to obstruction. I have been home from hospital for 2 weeks now. At first I could only hold on to food for 10 minutes after eating before I had to run to the toilet. I can now hold on to it for 2 to 3 hours, but still only get a 30 second warning before I have to run to the loo. Can anybody who has had similar experience advise me on how long it will take for my body to adjust?
Answer:
Tincher of Opium is a liquid that you take to help control diarrhea. I take it the minimum of twice a day, in the am and pm. But I am allowed to take up to 4 times in a 24 hour period. I take 5 drops each time and it helps control the diarrhea and the pain it eases it. It does not work for everyone is my understanding. My Dr. and were thrilled that it works for me since this enabled me to go to my son's graduation from the University of Miami. My Dr. says it does not make your body get an immunity to it where it won't work and addiction is very slight (he has never had a patient with that problem and he is in his late 40's to 50).When I take my tincher I usually go at least one more time and have the pain, cramps and urge for about 15 to 30 minutes depending on what I ate and how much I ate. Then it goes away except the pain which sometimes it does but most of the time it just eases a little. For me it is the best med I am taking that seems to react the same way most of the time and makes my life a little easier. I do take a whole bunch of other meds too including pain medication. I have a Dr. that all he is does for me is try to control my pain. If you decide to try the opium, you need an Rx , then call around to pharmacies because I had trouble finding a pharmacy that had it in inventory, including my own store. I was a manager of a drug store until I got sick, now on medical.
