Question:
New remedy suggested for IBS. Aloe Vera in tablet form and Acidophilis in the same form. According to Reflexologist helps put a lining on the gut and restores the natural bacteria that the gut needs to move stomach contents. Available from Alternative Remedy suppliers.

Answer:
There is a licorice tablet (without glyzerin) which supposedly does the same thing. Would be interested in your acupuncturist's thoughts about it. Regarding the Acidolphilis - my wife has been using it with good results. She had her gall bladder removed & the Doctor said that reduces the amount of Bile needed to digest food. Without the bile, undigested food ferments in the intestines creating bloating and gas. The acidolphilis helps restore the good stomach bacteria and hence, better digestion. I've been taking the Aloe Vera tabs for about two weeks and since then have had virtually NONE of my previous problems i.e. urgency of BMs (touch wood!)
