Side Effects Of Zelnorm

Tagged As: Side Effects Of Zelnorm

Question:
Has anyone taken Zelnorm for IBS? If so what kind of side effects did you have?  I am to start this tomorrow and well I'm really picky about how I want my stomach to feel.

Answer:
ya  mean you don't want spasming, diarrhea/constipation, and agonizing pain?  Seriously - I am curious about this med too though it doesn't apply to me because I don't have the uh... end results... that typical IBS patients have.  So please do let us know how it works for you. Hopefully you'll get more feedback here from others. I am on this medication.  I had the pain and was sent to a urologist. Nasty crappy pain that they swore was NOT bowel related. So off to see a urologist and an honest waste of many tests, all negative. Then told to repeat the call the GI specialist and he did see me. He told me the only thing left was to try this new medication, just approved last year for IBS, but constipation has to be the MAIN symptom. NOT diarrhea...well la dee da. I started on the 6mg twice a day, after the first couple days I got diarrhea but that is natural.  I was happy just to go. LOL.  Pain slowly decreased and the bowel movements got much more regular.  I had to continue to use citracel or Metamucil like usually did.  But the Pain was and did go away. I have been on zelnorm since last April I believe well some where around there.  No side effects for me and that is the VERY first med with NO side effects.  As most of you know my old body loves to mess with side effects... Zelnorm is worth trying if you want just my opinion.  If you look it up, it does not interact with any meds at all. I am down to mostly taking one pill before breakfast now, and when I notice something just ain't quite right?  I go back to two a day.  Drink full glass of water too people.... It has been good to me. yeah - it's not appropriate for me...though some would say I'm full of....I've done very well for several weeks now - have actually gained 3 lbs!   Had an episode last week but that was because I got overconfident and ate an entire ear of corn on the cob.   from the above...Zelnorm may not be right for everyone. If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, are breast-feeding or are taking or planning to take other medicines, make sure you tell your doctor. He or she can decide if Zelnorm is right for you. You should not start taking Zelnorm if you have diarrhea now or often; if you have bad kidney or liver disease; if you have ever had bowel obstruction (intestinal blockage), symptomatic gallbladder disease, or abdominal adhesions causing pain and/or intestinal blockage; or if you are allergic to Zelnorm or any of its ingredients. It won't let me copy the important safety information part. The only thing I know about Zelmorm is what I heard on drug company ads seen on American television. They seem to be saying that it is only for woman who have abdominal pain and constipation. I get gut pain but I have diarrhea and am never constipated, so I don't think I could take it. It seems to be very specific in it's use. Ditto   Have heard of it; can't try it; have all the contraindications...was asked to join a research group for another med for the type with diarrhea, same problem....
