Question:
I have Fibro and now seem to have a lot of trouble with my digestive system. Two weeks ago I had a CAT scan and gall bladder and pancreas are OK. Since Monday I have had diarrhea, cramping and vomiting. Every time I eat I get cramping and nausea again. Is there anything I can do until my doctor can see me next week?
Answer:
I have the very same thing. My doctor gave me Bentyl 10 mg to take. I take one pill before I eat and they have helped me a lot. Maybe you can call your doctor and ask him if he could call in a prescription of Bentyl to see if that would help. Hope you feel better soon. Sounds like Irritable Bowel. I really have to watch what I eat. No pill has helped me yet. After I eat something (never know what it will be) I get diarrhea and horrible unbearable stomach cramps within 10 minutes of eating. I feel horrible for the rest of the day after that. I have the same troubles. I am having an endoscope done soon. I have heard this is very common. I haven't eaten a meal for 9 months. I eat bread products...muffins, etc. They seem to go down the best. I , too, get sick from food. The main causes of IBS are eating animal protein, wheat and sugar. If you had Crohn's then you would probably have consistent bleeding. Below are some good websites on IBS and you might want to consider a vegetarian type diet with limited raw vegetables. Crohn's patients by the way will go on a liquid diet while they are having flare-ups. These flare-ups involve pain and bleeding. Prednisome is the miracle drug of choice to stop the bleeding during flairs. Also, there is a pressure point that works wonders for IBS. This procedure will close your intestinal valves and bring things back to normal. However, if you are eating a lot of animal protein and not enough water then you might still have problems; Here is the procedure: Feel for your hard hip bone and go in about three inches on each side of your body. Feel for a sensitive area and press in with a thumb real hard. You will push in and down at an angle towards the outside of your feet. Do one side at a time. There is another pressure point which is said to oil the valves. On your right inside angle you will feel a painful area above right of the ankle bone. It hurts, but take your thumb and press hard and upward with a pulsating motion. Keep doing this until the pain goes away.
