Question:
Is it normal to have pains - kind of stabbing pain down both sides and slight crampy pains during the very first weeks of pregnancy???
Answer:
I didn't have stabbing pains, but did have cramps, almost like I was going to get my period. I think the stabbing pain down both sides could be round ligament pain. Is it worse when you move suddenly or sneeze? That was actually my first pg symptom this pg, and yes it is normal. Crampiness in early pg is also normal. The pains seem to be more noticeable when I'm sitting but I also feel them when moving around. I had them so severely and they are just now getting somewhat better (20 weeks now) I also had a lot of bleeding so I was in terror. Get double checked, but more than likely it is round ligs or even pelvic bone pain. before I forget.. I am four days with not even a drop of blood! Things are looking better, which is good because no insurance as of March 31st. I will be applying for Medicaid, but I have not found a doctor who will accept it and the clinics definitely wont take a high risk patient. I at least will have the option for hospital if things get bad again, and now I do have the doppler to monitor little one until we can get his work situation straightened out. Cramps in early pregnancy like menstrual cramps are normal. Round ligament pain (stabbing pains down one or both sides) is usually late in pregnancy. it was my first symptom in early pg this time at only 4 weeks. It was the reason I went and bought a test. I can't remember for sure, but it seems like it was a late 1st trimester, early 2nd trimester thing in my first 2 pgs. It has reassured me that it is a normal part of pregnancy, I guess I am just so scared that every little pain is a bad sign.
