Question:
I just found out I was pregnant (first time) last friday 1/26 and I saw the nurse yesterday for blood tests & basic background. I have not been feeling different at all. We have decided that I am between 4 -7 weeks along right now. I am told that it is ok to not feel anything yet and I am actually lucky to not to have any morning sickness yet. But I feel like if I don't then something must be wrong. Is it really possible for everything to be working right inside of me and still no symptoms?
Answer:
Absolutely. Many women have no symptoms this early (if you are only 4-7 weeks, you could be as little as 2 weeks past conception.). I wouldn't worry a bit. (I had no symtoms until several weeks past my missed period, and even then my symptoms were quite mild; mostly just fatigue. I had a healthy normal pregnancy and a healthy baby.) I had no symptoms during the first trimester, either, except for some lingering mild headaches (that iirc didn't start until ten weeks? definitely not before eight, at least). All was well, and I had healthy twins. This is a major YMMV question. By the way -- neither my mother nor my sister suffered from morning sickness, either. I had absolutely no symptoms the first three months -- and in fact felt great throughout the pregnancy. I got a little neurotic when there I was with flat belly and no illness at all --and began to wonder if I were really pregnant [we had had fertility problems and took over a year to conceive] -- what convinced me was that with my hand on my belly in bed one day at about 12 weeks, I felt the BH contraction and it was like there was a little orange in my belly -- I couldn't feel it except with my hand. The baby was a 8.5 pound boy born at 41 weeks and healthy every day of his life so far -- he is now a grown man. sometimes it takes a while to hit. When I was pregnant with #1, I had no symptoms at all at 8 weeks, and then whammo, at 9 weeks, I was green from the toes up. i second that, count yourself among the lucky...im 22 weeks and I threw up constantly from week 4 - 20...i actually counted one day...43 times..i didnt think that was possible.! .it was awfull i lost over 25 lbs ...and was spilling keytones in my urine along with protein. im just starting to feel better,. and i wouldnt say having symptoms is what makes one feel pregnant, usually people say its when they hear the heart beat ( i havent yet) or feel the baby move (now that truly awesome :)
