Question:
Well, I am 5 days late for my period but I'm nervous about getting a test. I'd be so sad if it was negative, even though we are trying to buy a house and a car and are waiting until afterwards to get pregnant. My breasts have been sooo sore for almost a week, it feels at times that they are slightly engorged!?!? (I haven't BF in over a year now) When I was pregnant with #1 they were sore but with #2 they weren't. I have a question about preg and periods. My mother had one period after she got pregnant with me. Just one, it was a regular period at the usual time, but she was pregnant. How common is this? And why would you have a period while pregnant, unless your hormones are straightening themselves out (my guess, anyway.) Can you want to get pregnant so badly that your body acts pregnant? I have heard of this, but didn't know if it was one of those crazy myths you hear. With both my pregnancies, I lost about 10-15 lbs at the very beginning(before I knew I was preg.), then started gaining weight. I have lost alot of weight and now my jeans are shrinking lol. This is about a 12 lb weight gain in the past 1.5 months. I'm not sick, though, but I do realize all pregnancies are different. Maybe I'm just too wishful right now and my brain is teasing me. If anyone knows anything about these 2 subjects. I'm so nervous and giddy.
Answer:
I think you can interpret symptoms of PMS as being symptoms of early pregnancy and the other way around. You can drive yourself crazy wondering which it is, going on an emotional roller coaster, full of joy and fear, etc. I suggest you just do a home pregnancy test. That way you will know. But the sore breasts are something I usually only experience with pregnancy......... I CANNOT believe your strength! You haven't done a HPT, yet? I count the seconds until I can do them, and usually do them anyway-even though it is like the day before my period. Anyway, I can't help you with the symptoms because I have yet to conceive, but I can tell you that sometime I think I am getting symptoms because I want to be. Well, I did take a test last night. It was negative :( I cried for a few minutes. We are NOT ttc, but will be in about a year. It's just so hard to wait and I can feel it ticking, ya know? My mom has a hormonal disorder and if she had not had me at so young an age (16) then she wouldn't have been able to have children at all. That pregnancy raised her hormones(I'm not sure which ones) for a few years, and she was finally able to have my brother when I was 5. After that, she could have no more. I don't want anything like that to happen to me, plus I don't want my other daughters to be so old before I have another. Christina was 4 this past June, Rebecca will be 3 this December. Of course, it could be that I had been pregnant and/or breastfeeding since 1994 and I haven't been either since last year. It's withdrawal.
