Bleeding During Pregnancy ?

Tagged As: Bleeding During Pregnancy

Question:
I started bleeding a brownish color for about a week. The doctor put me on desk work. She kept me on desk work for 1 week after I stopped bleeding. Has anyone else bled pink or red during pregnancy, with no cramping and everything?

Answer:
(Raising hand) I bled quite a bit during the first two or three months with no cramping, and everything's fine now (knock on wood veneer). I bled lots during number one at about 10 weeks - pink and clots too. Spent the weekend in hospital where heartbeat and scan was OK and then sent home where bleed became brown and eventually stopped. Lasted full term with a top health score of 10 on delivery. I have never really understood what it was all about, but was given the impression that it wasn't abnormal. Yes. I was really scared because I had a previous miscarriage, so when I bled the next time, I was just sure I was having another miscarriage. I bled throughout the entire first trimester, and my baby is now 4 months old. The cervix is very vascular during pregnancy, and even walking on a treadmill can cause it to bleed a little. Other things the doc told me that can make you bleed were sex and straining during a bowel movement. Or, sometimes there is no reason, such as in my case. I never stopped worrying though, until she was born. You could also have a subchorionic hematoma, which they could see on ultrasound, and is common. Bleeding during the first trimester is really not that uncommon. When I had my miscarriage, I bled ALOT, for 14 days actually. During my second pregnancy, I bled bright red and pink about once or twice a week, and everything was fine. I've been told it's not normal but it's definately common. It's still scarey either way. I've been bleeding like a heavy period, changing my pad every hour to an hour-and-a-half, every day for the last 17 weeks. In addition, I've had five episodes of severe hemorrhaging, with lemon-sized clots, enough that I was admitted to the hospital and crossmatched for a transfusion, if necessary. The cramping with these episodes was minimal and mild. I'm now chugging my way toward 25 weeks and Sofia is just fine!! Her heart rate and growth are right on target, the placenta is perfect, fluid levels are great, and she routinely does her gymnastics routine throughout the day (and night).
