Question:
I have been spotting since last tuesday. I was supposed to start my period last Tues., but I am pregnant. I wear a light days liner every day. Some days there is hardly anything on it and other days it is covered with discharge, very light brown in color, and by the way ,sorry for this detail, but it smells like vinegar. Now I know spotting can be very normal, but is this going to end? Is it still implantation stuff coming out? Am I more likely to have problems with a possible MC or is there no correlation? My doc has me laying low , no exercise or sex. Is this reasonable ?
Answer:
I guess it is normal to a certain point. But if you start to see any pink or bright red you must call your DR. right away. By the way how far long are you? I just found out today that I'm a + positive & I'm very excited.. If its very light brown, then its just old blood (either that, or the amounts are so miniscule that its taking days and days for it to reach the outside of your body). Brown spotting of this kind is almost never anything to worry about (it can be a symptom of one or two other things, but not as early in pregnancy as this). Remember that the *amount* to normal discharge you will be producing is much higher, which probably misleads you as to the amount of blood there actually is. It may well be that in the last 4 days, you've had only one or maybe two drops of actual bleeding. No sex or exercise isn't likely to have any bearing at all on the outcome of your pregnancy (which sounds perfectly normal so far). But your doctor is probably wise, because if you did these things, and then (unrelatedly) miscarried, you'd probably end up blaming yourself. So there's no harm in being conservative about it and taking it cautiously, because then you'll *know* you've done everything right. I certainly don't think it warrants bed rest - you might as well carry on with your normal day to day activities.
