Length of clomid side effects or possible pregnancy?

Tagged As: Pregnant Side Effects

Question:
I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. I have just completed my first cycle of clomid and am not sure what I should have expected. My main concern is how long clomid's side effects should last. I have been feeling ill and out of sorts since taking clomid (days 5-9, 50mg) and do not know if this is normal. I have been nauseous, had the dry heaves, seriously tired, some cramps, heartburn and some changes in my breasts. Today was day 28 and I took a pregnancy test to see if, perhaps, I am pregnant. The test came out negative. I will test again in a few days to see if I was a bit premature to take the test, but I'm beginning to suspect that I'm not reacting very well to clomid. I do intend to talk to my ob. after day 31 (the last day suggested for my period to occur), but until then, any advice or suggestions would be most helpful.

Answer:
I didnt have any of those side effects what so ever. How many mg are you taking daily? Could be that your doc started you out on a much higher dose than needed. However... On the night before I was to start my 2nd dose of clomide, I took a pg test. + + + + The next day I went and had a blood test to make sure, and + + + + !!!! So, it could be that you are pregnant. Did you by chance re-check your test after about 10 minutes or so? My test did not come up positive right away, it took long enough for me to have a good cry and go back to throw it away. It you look at some of the posts on evaporation lines you'll see that it has happened to many people. So do talk to your doc and maybe consider buying another test in the naxt day or so. Never know!! Clomid can do really strange things. One Sunday in July, I was crying to my husband saying I was sorry he married someone that couldn't have kids, etc.. I remember very clearly that it was Tuesday (2 days later) that I was crying again when told him that I took it all back and I was pregnant! Either it was the Clomid or the fact that I had just gotten pregnant or maybe I really am psycho.... that would be the clomide. At one point, I couldnt get my computer to work and I just cried and cried and cried. My husband thought I had absolutly lost my mind. Funny thing is, since I've been pregnant, I haven't had the emotional swings. That does sound like you're having some trouble with it. I had very light side effects (headache, hot flashes) from 50 mg on cd 5-9, but they were gone by about cd 12 or so. Clomid tends to make you ovulate late, so it could be that the test was too early. Those side effects sound awful. They actually sound a lot like pregnancy - but throughout the nine months, not necessarily just early pregnancy. I took Clomid and had no side effects on either 50mg or 100mg. I got pregnant twice on 100mg. Well, actually, I did get a headache once after taking my pill, but since it only happened once I now doubt that it was Clomid related. I sure hope that you are pregnant! Feel free to stick around here whether or not you are right now. I suggest you put it off as long as you can. I cannot remember anymore how many urine pregnancy tests I took that came up negative while I was pregnant with Razi. I took one or three at home, and at least one (possibly two) in my doctor's office. They were all negative, but I didn't bleed and didn't bleed and didn't bleed... my doctor was starting to think something was really wrong with me. :) Finally, in frustration, I insisted on a blood pregnancy test. THAT came up positive! I wasn't far along at all then - maybe 3 or 4 weeks? Not all women throw a lot of hcg into their urine, especially really early on. So, ask for a blood test or wait a week or two till you pee on another stick. And if it comes up negative again, tell your doctor all about your awful reactions to Clomid. Perhaps there is something s/he can do to help.
