morning sickness question ?

Tagged As: Morning Sickness When

Question:
I was just curious, how many of you suffered from morning sickness. At what point in the pregnancy did it begin and about when did you notice it ending? I ask this because I have very little morning sickness, mainly just waves of nausea periodically or food aversions that hit me and make me queasy. I was wondering if this is normal? It's been happening on and off since I was 5 weeks preg and now I'm almost 8 weeks. I have a friend who told me that her doctors told her that having morning sickness is a good sign that her pregnancy is progressing as it should, but my sister says that's bunk because she had absolutely no sickness during her pregnancy. Just wanna make sure that what I'm experiencing is okay.

Answer:
That's a old wive's tale...'the sicker you are the healthier the pregnancy'. Hog wash! Sounds like you are doing just fine. I had morning sickness or anytime sickness with A & A and none with my first pregnancy, which was totally fine, except the placental infection. Food aversions are very common. It really does vary from person to person. You are doing great and I am just so happy! had hardly any m/s when I was pg with Jake. I just could not stand the smell of our garbage can. We had to take the garbage out everyday. The nausea (and sore boobs) came and went but started at about 5 weeks and ended at 13 weeks. OTH I had really bad m/s when I was pg with Mose. It ended at 15 weeks. It also came and went. I know how nerve wracking it is to have your symptoms disappear but it's not a accurate gauge of the health of your pgny. I had NO morning sickness, no food aversion or cravings, and my breasts were only mildly sore. Having no ms doesn't mean your pgcy isn't progressing along nicely, only the u/s can tell you that. I know it's hard honey, been there and was in the worst case of pregnoia ever. I'm sorry you have to go through this, but I guess after suffering from IF this can't be avoided. Sending positive thoughts of all kind to you and Mick's little bro/sis. Severe morning sickness here with both of my twin pregnancies (hyperemesis with Olivia and Cassie). It kicked in at about 5 weeks and was mostly gone by 15 or 16 (although I didn't regain the ability to brush my teeth without gagging until after giving birth :-). I was nauseated 24/7, and the smell of onions or the thought of chicken could make me retch. It is, unfortunately, very normal and very OK. BTW, they say that girls cause more sickness than boys because of the higher hormone levels. That was sure true for me. If it gets too bad, ask your doctor for Zofran. Those pills were the only thing that allowed me to eat for several weeks (although, if you do end up taking them, be aware that a major side effect is constipation). What you are experiencing sounds a lot like what I had with Ally. During the first trimester, I was a little queasy, but it was helpfull to keep crackers or something around. If my tummy was empty, I was nauseous. Once I hit the second trimester (which is supposed to be the easy time), I was vomiting regularly and having awful migraines. I think the vomiting was due to the headaches and meds I was on instead of being morning sickness though. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. Instead, count your blessings. :)
